Inclement Weather Reminders
Student & Staff Safety is Our Priority
In rare cases of severe weather, ²İݮֱ²¥ may cancel student transportation and temporarily close schools. These decisions are not taken lightly and aim to ensure everyone's safety. Stay informed through our website and social media channels.
How Closure Decisions Are Made
When severe weather hits, the qSD management team is out early evaluating road, sidewalk, and building conditions to decide on bus cancellations or school closures. Several factors go into a school closure decision, including student and staff safety, the conditions of roads near schools, school grounds, school bus routes, and whether facilities are fully operational.
Stay Updated on Closures
Only bus cancellations, school closures, or delayed school openings will be announced. Our District will do its best to communicate school or district-wide closures on our website and social media by 7:15 am. If there is inclement weather or snow, but no changes to busing or schools, we will not send notices confirming everything is running and open.
Details and official announcements/updates are always distributed via the below channels:
- Principals will send out a direct email to families
- District/School Websites (www.sd47.bc.ca); (sign up for the app which sends notifications anytime there is a new post made on our website)
- Facebook (²İݮֱ²¥) & Instagram (@qathetschooldistrict)
Winter Weather Reminder
If there is winter weather and schools remain open, it is the parent/guardians' decision as to whether their children attend school, based on their local conditions. Stay safe!
